Thai Sweet Chili Turkey (Print Version)

Lean turkey combined with sweet chili sauce and fresh herbs creates a juicy, flavorful burger experience.

# What You'll Need:

→ Protein

01 - 1 pound lean ground turkey (93% lean)

→ Binders and Coating

02 - 1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs

→ Sauce and Flavor

03 - 1/3 cup Thai sweet chili sauce

→ Fresh Herbs and Vegetables

04 - 3 green onions, chopped
05 - 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

→ Buns and Toppings (optional)

06 - 4 burger buns
07 - Butter for toasting buns
08 - Lettuce leaves, cucumber slices, avocado slices, pickled vegetables (optional)
09 - Fresh red chili slices (optional)

# Steps to Follow:

01 - Place ground turkey, panko breadcrumbs, chopped green onions, chopped cilantro, and Thai sweet chili sauce into a large mixing bowl. Gently mix with your hands or wooden spoon until just combined to avoid overworking the meat.
02 - Divide the mixture into four equal portions, approximately 4 to 6 ounces each. Form each portion into a ball, then flatten into a patty about 3/4 inch thick. Press a shallow indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent puffing during cooking.
03 - Refrigerate the formed patties for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld and help maintain their shape while cooking.
04 - Preheat a grill or skillet over medium heat. Cook patties for 5 to 6 minutes per side until an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) is reached. Avoid pressing down on patties to retain moisture.
05 - Lightly butter the cut sides of burger buns. Toast on a preheated skillet or grill over medium heat for 1 to 2 minutes until golden brown and slightly crisp.
06 - Layer each toasted bun bottom with optional sauce, cooked turkey patty, and desired toppings such as lettuce, cucumber slices, avocado, pickled vegetables, or fresh chili slices. Top with the bun crown and serve immediately.

# Additional Notes:

01 - Chilling the patties before cooking prevents shrinkage and keeps the texture tender and juicy.
02 - Cooking to an internal temperature of 165°F ensures safety when using ground turkey.
03 - Using panko breadcrumbs produces a lighter, crispier texture in the patties.
